TEXRail Equipment Maintenance Facility

Project Details:

Location: Fort Worth, Texas

Project Value: $26 Million

Owner: Fort Worth Transportation Authority (FWTA)

Overview:

The TEXRail Equipment Maintenance Facility project delivers a state-of-the-art service and operations hub for the TEXRail DMU fleet. Located on a 24-acre site in northeast Tarrant County, the facility sits just west of Sylvania Avenue and the TEXRail line.

Specifically designed to centralize key operations, the complex supports heavy and routine maintenance, fueling, cleaning, and railcar storage. It includes administration offices, a fueling station, automated train wash, parts storage, restrooms, break areas, and multiple specialized work bays. As a result, crews can now perform daily service tasks and major repairs efficiently in one integrated location.

From the outset, our team provided comprehensive project control services to manage scope, schedule, and cost throughout the project lifecycle. We supported planning, procurement, and construction activities by applying data-driven forecasting tools and performance tracking methods.

Furthermore, the facility features three exterior storage tracks, a service and inspection bay, and a dedicated heavy repair bay. Inside, crews operate lifts, cranes, and specialized machinery essential for maintaining the Diesel Multiple Unit fleet. Meanwhile, the exterior layout supports smooth vehicle access, adequate parking, and safe rail movement across the site.

Project Control Services

We led project control services from initial planning through final commissioning. This included developing a baseline schedule, managing cost reports, and tracking earned value metrics to ensure alignment with project objectives. By integrating project controls with day-to-day construction management, we helped the team stay on target and within budget.

We sequenced work across grading, foundations, steel erection, MEP systems, and equipment installation with minimal disruption. We also coordinated delivery of long-lead equipment such as overhead cranes, hydraulic lifts, and service machinery.

Throughout construction, we provided real-time updates on progress, risks, and cost performance. Our reporting supported decision-making and kept stakeholders aligned on deliverables and timelines.

Today, the TEXRail Equipment Maintenance Facility supports round-the-clock fleet operations. It increases railcar availability, reduces downtime, and enhances regional transit reliability.

This project demonstrates our ability to deliver high-performance infrastructure while providing proactive, integrated project control services from start to finish.
