In 1999, the Humble Oil Building Complex earned placement on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, this iconic structure houses the SpringHill Suites by Marriott. Located on Dallas Street in downtown Houston, the hotel features 171 thoughtfully designed guest rooms and extended-stay residences.
Originally built in 1931, the building stands as a 94-year-old architectural landmark. During renovation, developers prioritized preservation while modernizing the interior. Most importantly, they retained the original historic façade, blending classic character with contemporary comfort. This balance between restoration and innovation guided the entire construction effort.
Precision played a central role by providing a detailed Baseline Schedule. Then, through regular schedule updates, we supported the project’s timeline control and resource planning. Each update captured real-time progress, identified potential conflicts, and informed critical path adjustments.
Renovating a historic structure introduced several construction complexities. However, Precision’s schedule management enabled the team to forecast delays, align subcontractors, and manage milestones effectively. With comprehensive baseline scheduling, we coordinated sequencing for façade retention, MEP upgrades, and structural reinforcements support.
By collaborating with developers, architects, and field teams, Precision helped ensure alignment between schedule expectations and on-site execution. Our updates supported better coordination and quick decision-making, especially when navigating preservation requirements or material lead-time shifts, supported by a solid framework for baseline scheduling.
Furthermore, Precision maintained schedule accuracy during system retrofits and interior finish installations, utilizing baseline scheduling methodology as support. This allowed the team to uphold project momentum without compromising preservation standards. It effectively supported developers in meeting their key delivery dates and renovation goals.
In conclusion, the SpringHill Suites project demonstrated how historic preservation and modern construction can successfully intersect. Precision’s scheduling support provided clarity, reduced risk, and enhanced collaboration through its baseline scheduling framework. Ultimately, the restored Humble Oil Building now serves as a vibrant hotel destination—celebrating Houston’s past while welcoming its future.
